Dave Morin to Speak at Innovate Montana Symposium

On July 13th, we’re excited to hear Dave’s story of growing up in Helena, when he was ski racing for the northern division of the U.S. Junior Olympic team and generally slaying academically.  After graduating high school he went on to receive a B.A. in Economics from University of Colorado Boulder.  Then he began his career in marketing at Apple in 2003, before joining another *wee startup* you may have heard of called Facebook in 2006.

Bethany Yellowtail, Founder of B.YELLOWTAIL, to Keynote Innovate Montana Symposium

Raised on the "Apsaalooke" Nation in a cattle ranching family, Bethany Yellowtail was first taught sewing from her Aunties and Grandmother growing up on the Crow reservation. As a graduate of The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise (FIDM) in Los Angeles.  Bethany worked in corporate fashion specializing in pattern-making and design consultation for various prominent brands before launching her own brand, BYELLOWTAIL, in December 2014.  Her Great-Grandmother, Irene-Not-Afraid-Yellowtail’s regalia inspired the company’s founding aesthetics.

Shalon Hastings

Having spent her early years in Lewistown, Roundup, and Helena, Montana, Shalon Hastings became familiar with Big Sky Country’s incredibly diverse landscapes and community cultures.  She cites a deep pride in the fact that both sets of grandparents homesteaded in Montana (Utica and Grass Range), and a “huge feeling of gratitude my family chose Montana - and that I have that legacy behind me.” As time goes by, Shalon’s affection for this place and its people only grow stronger, and inform her decisions as a community-centric entrepreneur.

Rachel Anderson grew up in Minnesota, but her parents’ roots in Circle, Montana allowed her to spend a great deal of time in Big Sky Country during her formative years.  With every family visit, Rachel fell deeper in love with Montana’s wide open spaces, vibrant communities, and welcoming people.  By the time Rachel was a senior in high school, her affection for Montana was so strong that she only applied to one college - Montana State University (MSU) in Bozeman.
